ROGUE ALES.
Rogue Ales, founded in 1988 in the heart of Oregon, has grown into one of the nation’s most innovative and beloved craft breweries. Known for its bold flavoUrs and creative BEERS, Rogue Ales consistently pushes the boundaries of traditional beer-making while staying true to its Pacific Northwest roots.
Rogue Ales was founded in Ashland, Oregon in 1988 by three former Nike, Inc. executives—Jack Joyce, Rob Strasser and Bob Woodell—after they were approached in 1987 by Jeff Schultz, Woodell’s accountant and avid home brewer, with the idea of opening a brewpub. Construction began in June 1988 along the picturesque Lithia Creek, with a 10 bbl brew system installed in the basement. The brewery’s inaugural brews—American Amber Ale, Oregon Golden Ale and Shakespeare Stout—were introduced when the establishment opened its doors in October 1988, marking the beginning of a journey that would soon see the company expand.
Rogue’s commitment to innovative brewing practices is evident in its diverse portfolio, which boasts more than 60 different ales. The brewery utilises a proprietary yeast known as “Pacman”, and its brews are carefully crafted to complement food—a philosophy that has seen the company collaborate with chefs, brewing experts and restaurateurs alike. Their inventive beers have earned Rogue Ales several medals in competitions held by the Brewers Association, including entries at the Great American Beer Festival and the World Beer Cup.
